Our story

Recovery gave us a second chance. We're passing it on.

Bridging Gap exists because someone, somewhere, refused to give up on a hopeless addict. We're building the same kind of place — in a country that has never had one.

Seven years ago our founder, Curtis Cathcart, was hopeless and homeless — trapped in addiction and convinced his life would never change. Through God and a recovery program, everything changed.

Today, after more than six years sober, Curtis has built a family and successful businesses. Recovery gave him a second chance at life, and he believes everyone deserves the same opportunity. That conviction is the reason Bridging Gap exists.

Hands holding a seedling — symbol of new beginnings

A partnership built for the long haul

Bridging Gap operates in partnership with Adult & Teen Challenge Global, a recovery organization with a long history in the United States. The partnership brings structured curriculum, trained counselors, and a model of discipleship that has worked in dozens of countries.

Why Papua New Guinea

Addiction in the PNG Highlands is rising, while resources for recovery are nearly nonexistent. There is little to no government funding for treatment in the region. The center largely sustains itself by selling vegetables and chickens at the local market — roughly $100 per month — and depends on donors who believe lives can be rebuilt.

On the ground

In July, Curtis's family will travel to PNG for two weeks to volunteer alongside the staff, deliver recovery books and resources, and support the men currently going through the program.

Help us strengthen the program

Our current focus is staff housing — the missing infrastructure that unlocks everything else.
