Seven years ago our founder Curtis was hopeless and homeless, trapped in addiction. Recovery changed everything — and he believes everyone deserves that same chance.
In the Highlands of Papua New Guinea, addiction is a growing problem and recovery resources are almost nonexistent. Bridging Gap, the first drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in PNG, is already open and helping people begin their journey to recovery. Lives are being changed and families are being restored.
We operate in partnership with Adult & Teen Challenge Global, a recovery organization many people in the United States recognize. This partnership brings structured recovery programs and support to Papua New Guinea.
But the center still needs critical infrastructure to grow. Right now we are raising $12,000 to build a staff housing building on the property. Because the center is located in a remote part of the PNG Highlands, having a place for counselors, staff, and volunteers to stay is essential for the program to continue operating and helping more people.
There is little to no government support for addiction recovery in this region. The center largely sustains itself by selling vegetables and chickens at the local market — about $100 per month.
This project will help:
- Provide housing for counselors and staff serving the program
- Allow volunteers to stay on-site and support the community
- Strengthen PNG's only addiction treatment center
- Help more people break free from drug and alcohol addiction
If just 120 people gave $100, the entire building could be funded.
